Many parents believe that children learn best in their mother tongue and should therefore attend a Marathi-medium school. Yet they also wonder, “What about English? In today’s world, children need to know it well.”

Our school understands these concerns. We want every child to be ready for the future, with no opportunities out of reach because of language. That is why we work at different levels to strengthen their English skills.

We start teaching English at grade one. During the first two years, children get plenty of exposure to spoken English. From 3rd standard onwards, we assess every child’s level of English, regardless of their grade, and help them progress from there.

Dedicated spoken English classes begin in 4th standard. Children get regular opportunities to listen and speak. From 5th grade, we follow a bilingual approach. This helps children move comfortably between Marathi and English. They begin by learning English equivalents for subject-specific terms in Marathi. Gradually, they practise answering questions in one language about material that is presented in the other. We also assess their bilingual abilities. Older students assess younger ones, asking them to translate words and offering clues to help them find the answers. Both students learn through this process.

In this way, children gain the confidence to grow in English while continuing to learn through their mother tongue.
